Free Distracted Driving Class

In August 2010, Harrington Insurance is hosting two weeks of Arbella Distractology 101.

What Is Distractology 101?

Distractology 101 is the brainchild of the Arbella Insurance Group Charitable Foundation and UMass Amherst professor Dr. Donald Fisher, an expert in the study of distracted driving. The program is 45 minutes of instruction inside an air-conditioned simulation unit, and an online supplement that each student must complete to graduate from the course. Each graduate will immediately receive a $15 gas card for completing the simulation portion of the course and may also be eligible for a 7% discount off certain coverages if insured with Arbella. You do not need to be insured with Arbella to take this FREE course.

This summer's Distractology 101 courses are focused on getting licensed inexperienced drivers (3 years experience and under) to understand the dangers of distracted driving. Inattention while driving is one of Massachusetts biggest concerns due to the increase in accidents specifically tied to texting and cell phone use while driving. The fact is we call them accidents, but they don't have to happen. We plan to educate people of all ages on the dangers distracted driving creates.
